Every day is a challenge. Every day we make decisions that impact our lives on many levels. Today I am reminded more than ever to trust in God.
Today I read I Samuel 2:1-10. I saw the prayer of a woman who put her trust in God and rejoiced in His power and justice. But it is so much more powerful knowing the context of chapter one. Hannah was childless. She longed for a son. In chapter one we see the heart wrenching prayer of a woman who was pouring out her soul to the Lord. My favorite part of chapter one is in verse 19 where it says “and the Lord remembered her”. God does not forget His own. He hears our cries and answers them. Hannah asked for a son and promised that she would give Him to the Lord. She didn’t take this lightly. She followed through with her promise. She brought Him to the temple.
I Samuel 1:27-28 I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there.
Trusting God is the letting go of what we think should happen and placing it in His hands. We cannot see what God sees. His way will most definitely lead us in the right direction but sometimes it is through the valley and we cannot understand what we will see when we reach the mountain top.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Whether you long for a child, a spouse, a better relationship, or for healing bring your request to God. He hears your prayers and understands your pain. You can trust Him, because He cares for you.
I Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
