Treat Yourself to a Líllébaby Tummy Pad – Review and Giveaway!

Posted · 106 Comments

If you have ever back carried a child in a baby carrier you know that sometimes the waist belt can dig in when you have to tighten it.

I have been exclusively back carrying Mac for more than a year now. The heavier he gets the more important it is that my belt position is not moving.

I was pretty excited when this new accessory came out from Líllébaby. I know some people just wear the Líllébaby Lumbar support on the front as the “Lille Girdle” . However I haven’t found that comfortable as I let Mac up and down out of the carrier and often wear it around my waist while sitting without him in his carrier.

My first reaction when I took this out of the box was that the measurements on the website are true to size. I ordered a Medium Size Tummy Pad in Grey which is 14″X 3.5″ (36 cm X 9 cm).

I had measured how long my waist belt was after I had been wearing Mac and it was about 13″ give or take so I figured I would pick the Medium.

(The also offer a Small  8″ X 3.5″ (20 cm X 9 cm) and a Large 18″ X 3.5″ (46 cm X 9 cm) and all sizes in Grey and Black.)

When I took it out of the package my first thought was how soft yet supportive it was.

It is about 1/3″ thick.  It is not soft like a sponge but is also not hard like the lumbar support.

I love this tummy pad. Seriously it has made back carrying my 43 lb 42″ toddler so much more comfortable.

I never had any pain from the waist belt digging into my belly.  I have always felt it was more like when you wear some pants that fit but are a bit tight. You get used to it.

Well wearing this tummy pad is like wearing a comfy pair of yoga pants compared to that.

It provides some support on the front as well, more so than the lumbar support when worn on the front because the tummy pad is longer.

I tested this out while shopping for groceries and then also when I went to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch. When walking around Target I actually feel like my waist band is less likely to move up or down and I can easily tighten it with the tummy pad in place. When at Sweet Tomatoes I only wear Mac while I am in line getting my food. After he sits down I just wear my Líllébaby CarryOn around my waist while sitting. It was very comfortable while I was sitting down for the whole meal.

I love this tummy pad so much I am going to buy another one so that I can have one for the carrier I use out and about and one in the house.

You should definitely treat yourself to a Tummy Pad from Líllébaby.

  1. Lauren says:

Love being stroller free (and still hands free) for small spaces like our crowded indoor farmer’s market!

    • admin says:

I haven’t used my stroller more than once in the past year! Of course my son is a toddler but still. Hands free and stroller free are great reasons to babywear

  2. Lizz Kholikov says:

Love that babywearing lets me know where my son is! He likes to run aroud when we are out but this obviously contains him. Also, love that he can nap in it, if needed, while we are out.

  3. Kelli DeAnn Crofton says:

I love being hands free but really love keeping my baby close to me and always knowing he is safe in my arms. He climbs out of strollers and runs off on me if he’s walking so my Lillebaby is a lifesaver for me!!

  4. Susan N Smith says:

I love babywearing! I honestly have no idea how other single moms who don’t babywear get anything done!

    • admin says:

Truly. I see people walking around carrying their kids in their arms at the grocery store and other places and I wish I could give them a Lillebaby.

This is so cool! I didn’t know they had this. Does it stop the belt from cutting into your tummy making it look bulged?

  14. Sarah curry says:

I was thinking about giving this a try since we were just able to switch my lo over to back carries! Now I’m dying to try one!

  15. Nina Mackrain says:

I have been curious to see if people were liking this. I may just have to buy one, we mainly back carry now, since my youngest is 11/2 already.

  16. Ali says:

I’d love a tummy pad! I’m expecting baby #3 in September and would love to use the tummy pad to wear our 13 month old on my back. Thanks for this helpful review!

  17. Jaime S says:

I love using my carrier when grocery shopping. It keeps him out of trouble and safe!

  18. Kirstin says:

  19. Kate G says:

I hunk this is a genius idea and can’t wait to get one myself! It would be nice to win one, but if I dont, I will for sure be purchasing.

  20. Sara G. says:

We just moved to wide seat recently but I haven’t back carried much because it’s not comfortable on my belly….especially after two c-sections. 😉 Thanks for the review, I’ll have to look into this!

  21. Tiffany says:

    I love being hands free!

I LOVE babywearing cause it keeps my one yr old close while I chase my crazy 3 yr old 🙂

  25. Emily Frank says:

I feel like I can go anywhere with my Lille! I dont need to worry about long distances, busy and crowded places, or a running away kid! I can be out and about as much ad I was even before having a babe!

  26. Deborah Perry says:

I love this idea! one of the first reason to purchase a Lille was the lumbar support but when LO got old enough to back carry- back there she went! I used the lumbar support in front but it kinda felt silly so this is on my wish list.

  27. Quina says:

That looks so cool and comfy. I’m getting ready to start back carrying so this will be nice.

  28. Julie says:

I love keeping my hands free while at the park or at the grocery store!

  29. Jessie says:

I always enjoy your pictures and posts! Thanks for this one in particular. We are starting to venture into back carries.

  30. Brandy Boyd says:

There are so many benefits I get from babywearing but the one I think about more lately, is that I feel like someone is less likely to try to mess with my daughter while she is in her carrier. There has been many stories lately in the news about children being abducted right out from under the mom’s and this scares me. I feel more secure with all of my children while I babywear.

  31. J Medina says:

I love babywearing and being able to cuddle my baby and keep her close as much as I can because these moments won’t last long.

  32. Sam says:

Thanks for the review! I was trying to decide if I should give it a shot or continue with the lille girdle. It’s better than nothing, but still not super comfy and it moves around and curves from my tummy which drives me nuts! So this sounds great as I primarily back carry my 18 month old. I only switch to nurse and then it’s right back 🙂

  33. Sarah Ternes says:

Thanks for the awesome review! I will be purchasing one soon

  34. Marla Urban says:

Heck Yes! This will be awesome!

  35. Julia B says:

I wear the lumbar support on my stomach because of the discomfort of just the band. I’m so glad I saw this. This would be amazing and a blessing to help carry my little man!.

  36. Alicia McDonald says:

I wear the lubar support on my stomach and feel so silly but if I take it off the starve cuts into me and hurts for weeks. My son only like back carrys. And I must wear him because he will take off on me even if I turn my back for one second and he has disappeared. It better to wear him and feel silly and get made fun of then to be sorry and for him to disappear and never be found or be found dead.

  37. Jessica Meyer says:

This would work great for us as when I wear my 3 year old it’s mostly back carry’s now and it would be nice to have something less bulky then the lumber.

  38. Justine Alexander says:

I can’t wait to wear my daughter in a back carry! She’s still too small but I carry my friends 1 year old and it would be so much more comfy with a tummy pad.

  39. I’m excited to try it.

  40. Lucie Wilson says:

I love feeling my little man so close to me and when he is tired or stressed feeling him relax into me. I can’t wait to start carrying no 2

  41. Amanda Jordan says:

I love babywearing because I can get unlimited kisses and snuggles. I can also make sure my son is safe during crowded events.

  42. Natalie Woods says:

I love keeping my toddler close, being hands free and stroller free!

  43. Kristen Ojeda says:

Baby Hope is really interested in what is going on around her when we are out and about. I was just talking to Jose about switching positions. This would be great to have. 🙂

  44. Patrice P. says:

So glad to hear you love it. I need a tummy pad for my Lille, and probably another for my Tula (because that strap digs in on me.

  45. Anne Wood says:

I love the freedom it gives me to get things done and my son loves that he is able to be at a height where he can see what’s going on around him.

  46. Carolina Tichy says:

I have been thinking about getting one, now with your review I pretty positive we might end up buying one sooner than later.

  47. Nancy arroyo says:

    I really need this!

  48. Alyson Lewis says:

I attempted wearing my 3.5 yr old on my back today without the lumbar support and just the waist belt was super uncomfortable. I’m definitely interested in trying the tummy pad now. Thanks for the informative review!!

  49. April says:

    I so need this!!

  50. Lindsay says:

I love back carrying my daughter but don’t do it very often due to the uncomfortable belt. I’ll have to give this a try!

  51. Laura Bernard says:

I love that it keeps my daughter close!

  52. Jessica Goff says:

I love that Lillie lets me have my little guy close while I’m running errands. It also allows me to play with my daughter knowing he can’t run off.

  53. Leslie Holcomb says:

I’m so glad that it helps! I also have a 43 pound son that I carry and the straps do dig. I can’t wait to try one!

  54. Samantha Heidecker says:

Thank you so much for this review! I’ve been wondering if it will work for me as our LB waistband digs in quite far and I’m left with two bellies (one on top and one on bottom). It’s not unbearable, but it could be more comfortable lol

  55. I love that babywearing will allow me to easily carry my toddler with special needs!!

  56. Jessica walker says:

I’ve been thinking about getting one of these, sounds like it’s a good buy

Didn’t even know these tumm pads existed. I was just thinking the other day need something to keep the straps from cutting in to my belly flab.

  58. Michelle Henkelman says:

Great review I saw when they added it to the site but never fully understood how it could help me until now.

  59. Cortney says:

This is wonderful news! We are just moving into back carries and the lumbar support looks so silly on my tummy but I need it to be more comfortable than just the webbing. I have been excited waiting for the tummy pads to be released in hopes that it would solve both those problems. Can’t wait to try one! Great review!

  60. Hannah K says:

I love having my baby close to me while also being hands free. Not having a stroller to push around crowded places is also a plus.

  61. Kristine Barrett says:

I love being able to keep my youngest close while still having my hands free to deal with my older kids! I don’t know how I’d do it without babywearing!

  62. Kate baker says:

This is exciting! Thanks for posting a review on this. Hoping to try the back carry soon and this has been a concern

  63. Rebecca Schreiber says:

I’m not that excited to back carry but this makes me more willing to try it. I would love to win it!!

  64. Melissa Broadbent says:

Wow this would be so helpful! Thank you for the review and chance to win I’ve wondered if these would be helpful

  65. Rhonda says:

I love that I can actually get things done while also having a happy toddler! He’s always been really clingy and don’t know how I would have survived without my lille!! I’ve only just learnt how to do the back carry so this would be fab!!

  66. Cora says:

Babywearing is great! It helps me to keep up with 3 small children. The little one can get a nap while I play with the other two outside.

  67. Liz L says:

I love babywearing because I have two strong willed little girls that like to be in control. Babywearing my littlest allows me to keep them both safe as my oldest has special needs that require my free hands.

  68. Kayla Bergstrom says:

I love keeping my babies safe and close!

  69. Holly B. says:

I love baby wearing for practical reasons, helps me gets things done and keep up with my older kids. This pad would be so great. Those straps do dig in.

  71. Holly M. says:

I have a new niece in the way. This Lillebaby carrier would be great for her.

  72. Stephanie Stafford says:

Always love seeing your pictures with Mac. You look so happy.

  73. Ashley A. says:

I just got my first Lillebaby for baby #3 – I didn’t care for babywearing with the first two, and now I know that it’s because I didn’t have a Lillebaby! It’s so necessary for me to wear the baby since I have two other littles, so I’m thrilled to have found a brand that works for us. We’re not ready for the back carry yet, but I look forward to trying out the tummy pad when it’s time!

  74. Carla Morgan says:

The thing I love most about baby wearing is being able to get stuff done around the house and not worry about my son being into everything!

  75. Arianna Sabolsky says:

Thank you for the review. I really been considering on buying a tummy pad. We aren’t back carrying yet but I’d like to have one already for when we start. I been going back and forth whether to get one. Your review has helped me. Thanks again.

I would love to win this!

  77. Liz A says:

I’d love to try one of these. It seems like it would really be comfortable!

  78. Cassandra A. says:

I love how it comforts my little man(especially during teething times) but leaves me to still be hands free for my strong willed threenager! I think everyday tasks are just much easier in general “) Thank you for the review!

  79. Julia Bok says:

I love that I have free hands at the store and son doesn’t have to go in the germy cart!
I also love the snuggles I get!

  80. Kim Toutkoushian says:

Aside from the obvious of it’s nice to be hands free with 2 other kids running around, I love that it lets me actually use my grocery shopping cart for food rather than putting the car seat in and piling food around the baby. Is the Lille tummy pad comparable to the comfort tummy sold on etsy?

  81. Kristen Rockwell Ruffino says:

I love just about everything about baby wearing! My favorite thing is probably just the closeness it allows with my daughter while still being able to be hands free and play with 3 year old son. My Lille lets me do it all really while juggling two kids, including breastfeeding with ease.

  82. Amanda Thomson Dukauskas says:

I also almost exclusively back carry my 30lb 42in 2 year old and normally wear the lille girdle. Excited to try something different.

  83. Shanda Westcott says:

I’ve been wanting to carry my 2 year old on my back, but I don’t like the band digging into me. Makes me very self conscious. So I don’t wear him. I hope this will help fix that problem!

  84. Anna McBride says:

I would love this support for the front! Every time I back carry, it’s not cute with the rolls and I feel like I have to hold a jacket in front of my tummy. Thanks for the review:)

  85. Lee dixon says:

I love it because my little always wants me to hold him. Hes like a little koala and im the tree. Baby wearing makes it easier on my back and my arms! I would love the Tummy Pad! My lillebaby is always digging in to my hip bone.

  86. Christina says:

Love it! I mignt have to get one.

  87. Sabrina Cooper says:

Currently my little one is still doing front carries, but this definitely will be helpful as he gets older and will be carried on my back. If my older 1 1/2 year old ever gets with the babywearing program I will need this for sure. Glad lillebaby listened to their customers about this.

  88. Liz L says:

I love babywearing because it keeps my littlest safe and my not so little little (with special needs) within arms reach and I have my hands free to help her through her struggles.

  89. Melinda Casas says:

    I love the closeness!

  90. Kaitlin Oakland says:

    Thanks for the giveaway!!

Baby wearing lets me keep my toddler close and let’s me be hands free to get other stuff done. She’s a runner so it’s so helpful to be able to put her up on my back as needed.

  92. Pam Pillot says:

Love babywearing because I can keep my daughter close!! Love it for naps on the go while out with my 4 year old!! And love being hands free to get stuff done!!!

  93. Marie Nieves says:

Recently we were outside the country and it appears as if our tot was a target of child traffickers, Lillebaby let us have her on our person at all times until we could leave back to the states the next morning! A 43lb tot is practically weightless!

  94. Kelly Van Asten says:

This is awesome! I love the comparison between too tight pants VS your favorite yoga pants! I’ll be getting a tummy pad for sure. Thank you for the great review!

  95. Booklover811 says:

    Looks great. Nicely written.

  96. Cori Nelson says:

Being able to go anywhere. Having free hands.

  97. Heather Aldridge says:

I want one so bad! I wear my lumbar support for back carry even though it though it looks ridiculous because I don’t like an extra muffin top lol

  98. Vanessa says:

Awesome review, thanks! I’ve been wanting to get one and was just talking about it this morning with some friends.
