Spring Training is Here!

February 2013 005To anyone who knows me, is my friend on Facebook, follows me on Twitter/Instagram/Pinterest, it should be no surprise that I am a huge fan of baseball, specifically the Tampa Bay Rays. Well today is the start of Spring Training. After what seems like a long off-season, I cannot wait to start cheering for my Rays again. Others like to go to movies, have date nights, go to fancy restaurants but Husband and I love to watch baseball. We prefer to go to the games, but of course that is not always possible. Luckily the Tampa Bay Rays are pretty inexpensive to go and see. I often get good upper deck tickets for $10 each. You can bring your food in the stadium, except for drinks which are limited to bottled water, which is fine with me. Every year I get a giant bag of roasted peanuts, at Sam’s club, in preparation for the 162 day season.

I love it when we go to games together or with friends and family. My dad, brothers, grandmother and father in law often come with us. There is just something about being at a game. I know people will argue that because we play in a dome it’s not the same but whatever. If you lived in Florida where it is often in the 90’s you would want to be in an air conditioned dome too. I love hearing the national anthem, the crack of the bat when it hits the ball, and the sounds of all the fans around me ringing their cowbells. We love the unofficial mascot, DJKitty, that often comes on the Jumbotron to rally us.

Win or lose we love the Tampa Bay Rays. We are looking forward to a great season this year. I can’t wait to ring my new cowbell  on Opening Day. April 2nd can’t get here soon enough. Let’s Go Rays!
