December 2012 031Merry Christmas to one and all! We are so blessed to be surrounded by our friends and family at Christmas. We enjoyed a wonderful evening of food and fun with my family. I have a large family and we still do stocking for all the cousins and it is always the highlight of the night for me. I love picking out the little gifts to fill them with. We are looking forward to spending time with Jason’s family today as well. Please continue to pray for those who lost people this year, especially in Newtown, CT and in military action, that the Lord will fill their hearts with peace. What a blessing it is to have those we love beside us, especially during Christmas.

One of my favorite bands, Relient K, has definitely my favorite modern Christmas song, I Celebrate the Day. Here are the lyrics as the describe exactly how I feel today. Take time to look it up on YouTube or Itunes. Their Christmas album, Let it Snow, Let it Reindeer, is so good. I listen to it all throughout the year.

“I Celebrate The Day”

And with this Christmas wish is missed
The point I could convey
If only I could find the words to say to let You know how much You’ve touched my life
Because here is where You’re finding me, in the exact same place as New Year’s eve
And from a lack of my persistency
We’re less than half as close as I want to be

And the first time
That You opened Your eyes did You realize that You would be my Savior
And the first breath that left Your lips
Did You know that it would change this world forever

And so this Christmas I’ll compare the things I felt in prior years
To what this midnight made so clear
That You have come to meet me here

To look back and think that
This baby would one day save me
In the hope that what You did
That you were born so I might live
To look back and think that
This baby would one day save me

And I, I celebrate the day
That You were born to die
So I could one day pray for You to save my life

Luke 2:10-11
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;  for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Mark 10:45
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
