If you follow me on any kind of social media you will know 2 things : I love my giant toddler son and my LÃLLÉbaby carriers.
I have been an avid user of the CarryOn Air since it came out in March of 2015 when my son was just 16 months old. He was about 31 lbs and 35 inches tall at the time.
I had gifted my LÃLLÉbaby Complete to a friend who was going to adopt her son from China and really wanted a carrier that would last us a long time as my son has always been above 100% on the growth charts. So I bought the CarryOn Air. We have been using it ever since then.
While I love the all 3D mesh CarryOn Air, I was excited when LÃLLÉbaby told me they had redesigned the carrier and wanted me to test it out. There are some significant changes made to this carrier and it is clear they have been listening to all the chatter on the LÃLLÉbaby Love Facebook group. I love that about LÃLLÉbaby. They really listen to their customers.
The first thing I did when I took the new Donuts & Sprinkles CarryOn out was to lay it on top of the Blue/Aqua CarryOn to see the differences. Obviously the new carrier is significantly different with the addition of the cotton on side and top of the panel. The panel is also tapered to the top so while it is the same width on the bottom as my Blue/Aqua it narrows a little at the top. The panel is taller as you can see in the picture. The seat is different with different darting making more of a cupped seat as well as about 2 inches narrower than the the blue and aqua CarryOn. The waist band is a little different with a curve at the bottom. And while they shortened the straps to help out the petite users they still include PFAs and have long webbing.
I received my new carrier the day before we were taking Mac to a car show, which was perfect timing. I gave it a quick test run at Target that day to get my straps adjusted and comfy. It definitely has a different feel than my Blue/Aqua CarryOn.
First let me tell you that Mac is 3 years old and 42″ tall with a 17″ long torso and weighs 47lbs. He is definitely above average, so I am really excited that LÃLLÉbaby decided to make the panel taller. The cotton side and top of the panel offer a lot more support than the all 3D mesh . The stiffness of the cotton combined with the shorter straps help me get a shallower seat than the all mesh carrier. The structure of the carrier has a similar feel to the Complete carriers I have because of it being tapered at the top, which I really love.
I wore Mac for about an hour straight when we first got to the car show and had no discomfort. Mac was excited to see inside all the cars and trucks to learn about the engine parts. We did lots of standing in place waiting for my husband, father and father in law as they looked at all the cars. In my all mesh Blue/Aqua CarryOn being stationary is the only time I would start to feel like Mac was heavy. In the new Donuts & Sprinkles CarryOn he did not feel that way at all. He definitely felt considerably lighter. This is a game changer for me because he is constantly growing and one of the main things I use the carrier for is going shopping and going to theme parks as waiting in line is very hard for him to do well since he is just turning 3 tomorrow.
One thing I was interested to see was if this carrier was just as cool for Mac as the all 3D mesh carrier. It was 80 degrees, with little breeze and in the direct sun most of the time I was wearing him. When I took him off my back he was still sweat free.
The tummy pad is the perfect accessory to this carrier. I back carry Mac 99.9% of the time and it keeps the webbing from digging in but still allows me to get my waist band tight enough so it provides the support I need for my toddler giant. I am wearing a small size tummy pad.
While I love all the amazing new options of the redesign, I would be lying if I didn’t love the fact that I can now have a printed airflow CarryOn. They offer 4 prints right now : Anchors Away, Spot On, Donuts & Sprinkles and Cupids Arrow. I already have the LÃLLÉbaby Complete Airflow in Donuts & Sprinkles so now when we adopt our next baby I can have matching carriers.
Here are all the details from my friends at LÃLLÉbaby.
