MacMillan loves to measure anything with a measuring tape. Today he measured Linus, our large maine coon cat, and told me he was big. He said he was going to measure mommy too. I said what does it say about me? Practically Perfect in every way? (We have been watching Mary Poppins) He said big. Pretty much everything he measures is big.
It seems I am always measuring something too. I have been doing lots of sewing in the past 5 months. Trying to use any skill I have to help earn funds for our adoption. My sewing is, in my estimation, pretty good. Well at least at the things that I sell. I don’t post anything for sale until I am sure it is the best quality I can put out. People ask me if I make kids clothes. Nope. I am not a clothes sewer. It took me what felt like forever and lots of seam ripping to make some pajama pants for my son and nephews for Christmas. I do have some fabric to make myself some pajama shorts but I haven’t gotten to those yet. I love to sew as it provides challenges and requires problem solving which I love and miss since I don’t work outside of the home anymore. But my sewing is definitely less than perfect.
My life mirrors my sewing, less than perfect. But thank God I don’t have to be perfect, I am redeemed. There are so many times when I look around and measure myself by others and the world around me. But then I try to remember how God sees me. When He looks at me He only sees how my sins have been washed clean by the blood of the Lamb.
2 Corinthians 5:21Â He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
His grace is what I rely on everyday.
