Little Things

As a continuation of the last blog post about being blessed, I want to encourage you to find joy in the little things. All those little things add up too. It may be something like getting one thing crossed of your to do list, or finding that one item you have been looking for. No day is without something that can bring joy, sometimes you just have to look for it. Some days are just hard. They are full of pain and frustration. I don’t deny it. When I was suffering daily with Trigeminal Neuralgia it was easy to fall into depression and let it take over my day. But finding a little thing to be happy about can help dig you out of the pit of despair.

Whether you are suffering from pain, just having a hard day, dealing with a difficult relationship or lost in grief, know that you are not alone. It is easy to feel isolated and alone in those situations. Although it isn’t comforting to know someone else is also in a bad situation, it is helpful to know that there are others who understand what you are going through.

Even more than another person, God knows your pain.

Isaiah 53:3-6 “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we esteemed Him not. Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by Him, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by His wounds we are healed.”

Prayer can be a great release for your pain and frustration. Trusting God and letting Him take your burden will bring great relief.

Psalm 86:6-7 ” Hear my prayer, O Lord; Listen to my cry for mercy. In the day of my trouble, I will call to you and you will answer me.”

Lay your troubles before the Lord. Then take a moment to enjoy the little things : the laundry is done, the tv show you like is on, your pet is at your side, your child(ren) are sleeping. Just as one thing can ruin your day, one little thing can make your day improve.
